School Project at AUD Primary School

This initiative aimed at promoting environmental health awareness among young children was held at AUD Primary School in Victoria Island, Lagos. CLAHN collaborated with the Rotaract Club of Lekki Phase 1 to provide students with training on appropriate sanitation processes and proper waste disposal methods. The goal was to encourage a clean and sanitized environment within the school. 

As part of the program, CLAHN donated essential sanitation materials to the school including hand-washing buckets, soap, toilet brushes, waste bins, and bin liners. The initiative focused on educating the children on the importance of proper handwashing, using washrooms hygienically, and disposing of waste properly to prevent the spread of diseases. 

The training covered topics such as the need to wash hands before eating, after using the bathroom, and after playing. Students were also taught how to flush toilets properly, cover their mouths while coughing and sneezing, and dispose of trash in designated waste bins. By adopting these healthy habits at a young age, it is hoped the children will maintain them as they grow, contributing to a new generation of environmentally conscious Nigerians.

Objectives

• To train the students on proper waste management 

• To encourage healthy living by donating waste management materials to the school

Overall Objective

• To instill healthy habits into the children at a young age, so they can maintain these habits as they grow and serve as change agents in their community.

Project Activities 

• We had training sessions on environmental sanitation and the environment.

• We donated a waste receptacle for students to separate their recyclables.
